Finished dimensions: Approximately 54 x 62 x 38 "/135 x 155 x 95 cm with a 20”/50 cm drop from the long edge to the point, after blocking, if the pattern is worked as written. The pattern also provides specific instructions for options to increase or decrease the size of the shawl if you wish. Note that changing the size of the shawl will affect the amount of yarn needed.
Yarn: Fingering/sock yarn, approximately 90 grams/330 yards/300 meters of main color and approximately 70 grams/255 yards/235 meters of contrast color. The sample was worked with Julie Asselin Leizu Fingering, a 90% merino/10% silk yarn with 420 yards/384 meters per 115 grams. Other wool and wool-blend yarns, and blends including bamboo, cotton, or nylon would also work.
Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rows to 4”/10 cm
Needles: US 7/4.5 mm or size needed to achieve gauge. The shawl is worked flat. It is possible to knit the shawl entirely on straight needles, but it will be more comfortable to use a long circular needle so that the stitches can spread out as the shawl grows.
